Position Summary:
The Carmel Taproom Assistant General Manager is a hybrid role, spending approximately 50% of time in management duties and supporting the GM, and the other 50% of time working as a lead bartender directly providing service to customers.
Essential Functions:
Supporting General Manager:
Collaborate with the General Manager in daily operations, planning, and decision-making.
Assist in setting and achieving financial goals, monitoring performance, and making improvements as needed.
Staff Supervision and Training:
Oversee and support the front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
Assist in recruiting, training, and developing staff to maintain high service standards.
Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and coaching as required.
Customer Service:
Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and resolve any guest concerns or issues.
Foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, ensuring guests feel valued and appreciated.
Assist in maintaining and enhancing the taproom reputation for outstanding service.
Operational Excellence:
Participate in the day-to-day operations of the taproom, including scheduling, inventory management, and quality control.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Collaborate with the General Manager to optimize menu offerings and promotions.
Financial Management:
Assist in managing the budget, controlling costs, and maximizing revenue.
Monitor financial reports, analyze data, and recommend strategies for improved profitability.
Contribute to inventory management and cost control efforts.
Team Collaboration:
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
Support and implement company policies and procedures.
Step in as the acting General Manager in their absence.
Requirements:
3+ years prior experience in bar & restaurant management
Enthusiasm for managing a team and mentoring individuals
Expert at customer service; genuinely enjoys interacting with guests and others
Experience opening and growing new spaces
Ability to teach/train others
Time management and planning skills, along with the ability & desire to work with little to no supervision
Ability to manage and multi-task in a fast paced environment
Self-motivation and ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive
Will be required to have Certified Cider Guide (training provided)
Strong alignment to company culture and values
Ability to collaborate and work well with management, peers and across functions
Know the importance of teamwork and how to inspire those around you
Seek out emerging talent and fosters growth within staff
Have thorough knowledge of Indiana alcohol / excise laws and hold managers and staff accountable for compliance
