Title – Sous Chef

Description – Ash & Elm Cider Co. is seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join our restaurant team. Ash & Elm Cider Co. is the largest cider producer in Indiana; our restaurant is the premiere location to experience our ciders. We have a small, collaborative, and positive team that creates elevated basics of New American cuisine that pair perfectly with our ciders. The Sous Chef will play a key role in ensuring exceptional quality and flavor across the board, maintaining a collaborative and positive working environment, and will interface with other company leaders to grow the restaurant side of the business.

Responsibilities 

  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with executive chef.

  • Assists with supervising kitchen staff.

  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.

  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition.

  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards in accordance with ServSafe requirements.

  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance.

  • Assist in training new employees.

  • Orders food supplies.

  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.

  • Solves problems that arise and leads in resolving them with kitchen team.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • At least two years of scratch-kitchen experience

  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures

  • Leadership

  • Creativity

  • Time-management skills

  • Decision making

Compensation - $40,000 - $50,000 per year, based on experience. This position is a full-time hourly position and requires evening and weekend hours. Full-time members of Ash & Elm Cider Co. receive paid-time off, vacation pay, vision/dental and disability benefits and an employer-matched IRA.
